🧈 Salted Caramel Kentucky Butter Cake
Ingredients
For the Cake:

3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 large eggs

For the Caramel Butter Glaze:

¾ cup sugar
⅓ cup butter (about 5 tablespoons)
3 tablespoons water
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
½ teaspoon flaky sea salt (or to taste)

🥣 Instructions

Preheat oven:
Set to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan generously (or use baking spray with flour).

Make the cake batter:
In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
Add butter, buttermilk, vanilla, and eggs.
Beat on low until combined, then on medium speed for 3–4 minutes until smooth and creamy.

Bake:
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
Bake 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Prepare the caramel glaze:
While the cake bakes, combine sugar, butter, and water in a small saucepan.
Bring to a gentle boil, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves (about 3 minutes).
Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and sea salt.

Soak the cake:
When the cake is done, poke holes all over the warm cake with a skewer.
Slowly pour the warm caramel glaze over the cake while still in the pan.
Let sit at least 30 minutes (or overnight for richer flavor).

Serve:
Invert the cake onto a serving plate once cooled.
Optional: drizzle with extra salted caramel sauce and a pinch of sea salt flakes before serving.

🍮 Optional Toppings

Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
Crushed toffee bits or pecans
Extra salted caramel drizzle
