🥧 Bacon and Cheddar Quiche
Ingredients
1 (9-inch) deep-dish pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
6 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
¼ cup finely chopped onion (optional)
4 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
½ cup heavy cream (or use all milk for a lighter version)
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Pinch of nutmeg (optional, adds warmth)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Place the pie crust on a baking sheet (to catch any drips).
Cook the bacon until crisp, then crumble it.
Drain on paper towels and set aside.
Layer the fillings:
Sprinkle half the cheese into the pie crust, then the bacon and onions (if using), and finish with the remaining cheese.
Make the custard:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and nutmeg until well combined.
Pour the egg mixture over the bacon and cheese in the crust.
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is lightly golden.
(A knife inserted near the center should come out clean.)
Cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
Optional Add-Ins
½ cup chopped spinach or broccoli
½ cup diced ham (for a “bacon & ham” quiche)
Swap cheddar for Swiss or Gruyère for a more classic French flavor
