Prep time: 15 mins | Cook time: 30 mins | Servings: 6-8

A hearty, comforting meal that tastes just like traditional cabbage rolls without all the rolling! This recipe has been a family favorite for decades.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Lean Ground Beef
  • 1 Medium Green Cabbage, chopped
  • 1 Large Onion, diced
  • 3 Cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 Large Carrots, diced
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz) Diced Tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) Tomato Sauce
  • 6 cups Beef Broth
  • 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown the Meat: In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Sauté: Add onion, carrots, and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Combine: Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, and seasonings. Bring to a boil.
  4. Simmer: Add the cabbage. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 25 minutes until the cabbage is tender.
Pro Tip: Add a cup of cooked white rice at the very end to make it a truly “unstuffed” cabbage roll experience!
